Cher Lloyd overtakes Cheryl Cole in number of Twitter followers

Cher Lloyd has amassed more followers on Twitter than former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole.

The 'Swagger Jagger' singer, who was Cole's protg while competing on the show in 2010, has now overtaken the Girls Aloud star by roughly 30,000 followers on the social networking site.

Both Lloyd and Cole have over 3.5 million followers on Twitter, but Lloyd has nudged ahead of Cole in recent days.

Lloyd's increased popularity on Twitter comes as a result of her continued success in America.

The 19-year-old singer announced today that single 'Want U Back' has gone Double Platinum, and recently released the video to her remastered single 'With Ur Love'.

Despite having what seemed to be a close relationship, Cole and Lloyd appeared to publicly fall out last year.

After Lloyd suggested during a radio interview that Cole had her voice enhanced while performin! g live, the 29-year-old 'Call My Name' singer posted: "Be Careful who you kick on your way up... They kick you twice as hard on your way back down. #unappreciationisugly."
