Cheryl Cole gets overtaken on Twitter by Cher Lloyd by more than 40,000 followers, bit awkward

Cheryl Cole may have been Cher Lloyd's mentor on The X Factor, but it looks like Cher's winning the global domination race.

The pair notoriously had a post-show bust-up, when Cher went on a rant about Cheryl's singing' and basically said she didn't need X Factor to "make it big" (except she's signed to Simon Cowell's label... so make of that what you will).

But Cher's sort of proven her point today, overtaking Cheryl on Twitter by over 40,000 followers.

Today Cher reached 3,597,617, while Cheryl's follower count was only up to 3,557,574.

The pair haven't been pals since Cher claimed Cheryl over uses auto-tune, causing Chezza to hit back on Twitter, replying: "Be careful who you kick on your way up. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.. #unappreciationisugly."

The 29-year-old went on to say that she was "disappointed" in 19-year-old Cher's quip after all her hard work during The X Factor in 2010.

Cheryl said: "She's new. She needs to learn a lot. I went through hell to get her on that programme.

"Everyone says stuff at the beginning of their career that they will learn to regret. Maybe I didn't teach her as well as I thought I had."

Cher later apologised in that 'sort-of-saying-sorry-but-not-really' kind of way, by telling Daybreak: "Sorry to her if she found it offensive."

But as Cheryl failed to crack America after being fired from the panel of The US X Factor and Cher's single 'Want U Back' just went double platinum, it looks like Cher's one-up on the feud front....
