Cher, Mary Bono Mack to be in audience for dancing Chaz

Looks like Chaz Bono will have both mom and stepmom in the audience cheering him on Monday night when he dances the Paso Doble on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Bono’s mother, Cher, promised her fans and son on Twitter last week she would be in the audience.

Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack of Palm Springs, Chaz’s stepmother, is also planning to be in the audience, spokesman Ken Johnson confirmed Sunday.

They likely will be sitting together at the same table, he said.

Bono Mack, who was married to Sonny Bono at the time of his death in 1998, will be accompanied by their son, Chesare, Johnson said.

Cher’s sister, Georganne LaPiere Bartylak and her husband are expected to also be in the audience, as is Chaz Bono’s girlfriend, Jennifer Elia.

Chaz Bono, 42, was born a girl to Cher and Sonny Bono and two years ago underwent a sex change.

Last week, Bono and dancing partner Lacey Schwimmer received the lowest of the scores from the judges, ending up with an 18 overall while all the other couples scored in the 20s.

Many were shocked when reality TV star Kristin Cavallari and partner Mark Ballas were voted off. They were among the judges’ favorites, collecting 24 points.

But the fans who cast their votes by phone, text and online, kept Bono and Schwimmer on the show, possibly helped by the promise Cher made on Twitter that she would be in the audience if her son made it through another week.

“Paso Doble going great this week!,” Bono tweeted on Saturday.

Other celebrities who remain on the show this season are Ricki Lake, Hope Solo, J.R. Martinez, Rob Kardashian, Nancy Grace, Chynna Phillips, Carson Kressley and David Arquette.

“Dancing with the Stars” airs at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC. It’s recorded live at Studio City in Los Angeles, the same building in which Sonny and Cher taped their weekly variety show in the 1970s.
